Your Local Precinct Convention
After the Republican Party Primary in Rockwall County, we hold the first convention - the Precinct Convention. Here, voters from each precinct in Rockwall come together to debate, propose and write resolutions. If adopted, they are passed onto the County Convention for further consideration. Precinct delegates are selected to present precinct resolutions at the County Convention.
Rockwall County Convention
At the County Convention, resolutions from each precinct are brought forward by precinct delegates. Resolutions are debated by the convention attendees and voted on. At the County Convention, delegates to represent Rockwall County in at the State Convention are selected. Resolutions that pass at the County Convention as then passed on to the State Party Convention.

Republican National Convention
At the Republican National Convention, delegates from across the country come together to officially nominate the party’s candidates for President and Vice President. The convention process gives Texas Republicans a direct voice in shaping the national party platform. It begins with resolutions submitted at the precinct level. Those that pass move on to the county convention, and then to the state convention, where delegates debate and vote on which resolutions to advance. Resolutions adopted at the state level can then be submitted to the Republican National Convention for consideration. It’s a true bottom-up process that allows grassroots ideas from Texas to influence national policy

How Your Ideas Can Shape the GOP Party
It all begins at your local precinct convention, held after Primary Election Day. Any Republican who voted in the Republican Primary that was just held can attend, introduce resolutions, and vote on ideas they believe should become part of the party platform. This is your chance to speak up and bring forward the issues that matter most to you and your community.
If your resolution passes at the precinct level, it moves on to the county or senatorial district convention for further debate and approval. From there, selected resolutions advance to the state convention, where delegates from across Texas review, refine, and vote on which ideas to support. At each level, grassroots Republicans help shape the direction of the party.
Resolutions adopted at the Texas State Convention can be submitted to the Republican National Convention. There, national delegates consider proposals from all 50 states to craft the official GOP platform. That means a single idea from a Texas precinct can ultimately help define the values, policies, and priorities of the Republican Party at the national level.
